Patrick S. Carroll, MD , 50, of Johnstown passed away September 30, 2021 at Windber Hospice, Windber, PA. Born September 11, 1971, in Walnut Creek, CA to Betty Jean Carroll (nee Patterson) and Jan Herbert Carroll, he was raised in Concord, CA, the younger of 2 boys.

He attended the University of Wyoming where he obtained a Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemistry then went on to become a proud graduate of the University of South Florida Morsani College of Medicine in Tampa, FL. He completed his residency in Emergency Medicine at WellSpan York Hospital in York, PA.

He was Board certified in Emergency Medicine as well as a member of the American Medical Association and the Emergency Medicine Residents’ Association. He was employed as a traveling physician with ApolloMD and worked primarily in North Carolina serving smaller, rural communities at various hospitals and freestanding Emergency Departments.

He enjoyed practicing emergency medicine and had an affinity for wilderness medicine. He particularly enjoyed training new residents, nurse practitioners and physician assistants in emergency medicine. In his downtime, he enjoyed camping, hiking, snow skiing, traveling, and exploring various types of bleeding edge technologies.

He is survived by his husband, Victor L Rinaldi of Johnstown, PA; Uncle Harold Lee Patterson III of Bend, OR; brother Marshall J Carroll and wife Naldita; nephews Eric and Henry and niece Neesa, all from Orlando, FL; uncle Alvin Kent Patterson of St Joseph, MO; Father Jan H Carroll and wife Karla of Walnut Creek, CA and brother-in-law and sister-in-law Howard and Ingrid Mastroberti of Crystal River, FL.

His ashes are to be interred in the Patterson family plot at Monument Hill Cemetery in Thermopolis, WY with a graveside service to be conducted at burial. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to Patrick’s favorite charity Donors Choose (www.donorschoose.org) in his memory.
