Bankowsky, Pearl, the last surviving member of her family, passed away at age 97 at Laurelwood Care Center on March 15, 2019. Pearl was born May 27, 1921 and raised in East Conemaugh. Preceded in death by parents, Harry and Anna (Buriak) Bankowsky; and siblings, Nellie Rovansek; Michael Bankowsky; John (Bink) Bankowsky; and Mary Budney. Survived locally by brother-in-law, William Budney; niece, Marlene Singer; and many nieces and nephews, whom she cared for deeply. Pearl was a kind and gentle soul, rooted in her faith. Lifelong member of St. John the Baptist Orthodox Church Conemaugh. Many thanks to the staff at Laurelwood Care Center who cared for Pearl for many years and to Father George and Faith Johnson for decades of spiritual care. Friends will be received Wednesday March 20 from 10 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m., at Hindman Funeral Homes & Crematory, Inc., 1521 Frankstown Rd. Burial at Forest Lawn Cemetery. Donations may be made in Pearl’s memory to St. John’s Orthodox Church Conemaugh.
