Obituary

Schenk, Ralph “Ray”, 75, Hastings, went to the lord December 3, 2023. Born October 26, 1948 in Altoona to the late Paul and Dorothy Schenk. Preceded in death by sister, Darlene (Schenk) Makin. Survived by loving wife Mary Kay (Mortensen) Schenk; children, Matt (Vanessa Biddle) Schenk of Duncansville, Julie (Schenk) Geisbrecht of Hastings, and Bill (Robyn Cheskiewicz) Schenk of Hastings; Grandchildren, Jade, Mason, and Aiden; Siblings, Hill of Hollidaysburg, Doreen (Jim) Zupon of Ashville, John of Hollidaysburg, and Pete (Donna) of Loretto; many nieces and nephews; and the children and grandchildren of the Cheskiewicz family. Ray was an avid golfer and member of the Cambrian Hills Country Club. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing games with his family and having his dogs Trinket, Jackson, and Phatty by his side. Ray also enjoyed trips to the casino, playing bingo, Pitt football games, and the Dallas Cowboys. Ray was a proud member of the U.S. Army and served in Vietnam. He was a coal miner and worked for the PA Department of Corrections in Cresson, retiring in 2011. Ray was also a member of the St. Bernards church in Hastings. Family and Friends will be received Wednesday, December 6,2023 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Easly-Hindman Funeral Home, 333 Beaver St Hastings, Pa 16646. A mass will be held Thursday, December 7, 2023 at 11 a.m. with a one hour viewing prior at the St. Bernards Catholic Church, 147 7th Ave Hastings, Pa 16646, Fr. Thaddeus Rettger, OSB, celebrant.
