Robinson, Robert D. “Bob” 69, passed away at his home in Upper Yoder township, surrounded by his loving family, after a courageous battle with a rare brain cancer and complications. Born in Templeton, Armstrong County, PA, the son of Roy A. and Avanelle (Clever) Robinson. Preceded in death by his parents, and younger sister, Brenda Carson. Survived by loving wife of 26 years, Mary Ann (Estok), and three children and their children, Thomas Leturgey and wife, Marion, of Pittsburgh, and their children Taylor Leturgey, Allison (Mike) Lichina, Corey and Kevin Shipton; Shannon and husband, William Meredith, of Westmont, and their children, Jacqueline, Kasey, Gabrielle and Faith Meredith; and Jill and husband Jeff Miller, of Johnstown, and their children, Brandon and Maci Miller. Also survived by brothers Don Robinson and wife Janet; Jim Robinson and wife Loretta; and sister, Lois Painter all of Kittanning. Many other nieces and nephews as well as special niece, Amy Simon of Vandergrift. Bob was proud to have served in the US Navy as a Ceremonial Honor Guard in Washington, DC for 2 years, where he participated in the funeral processions of US Senator, Bobby Kennedy and the Apollo 1 astronauts. He later served as Yeoman aboard the USS St. Paul during two tours of Vietnam. After service, Bob completed an associate in Specialized Business degree at the New Kensington Commercial School Employed by Pennsylvania Mines Corp. for 20+ years, first as a Purchasing Agent, then Purchasing Manager. During that time, he was Secretary/Treasurer for MEMMA (Mining Electrical Mechanical Maintenance Association), an organization that awarded scholarships to promising students entering the field of electrical engineering. He later worked for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania at the Hiram G. Andrews Center in Johnstown as a Purchasing Agent, then Administrative Officer with the Assistive Technology Lending Library, in association with Temple University, Philadelphia. He was an avid golfer at Northwinds Country Club with many former coworkers and colleagues; an outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening; voracious reader of military history; and a traveler, who enjoyed taking many cruises and land tours, exploring the world with his wife, Mary Ann. Bob especially delighted in spending time with his grandchildren. Per his request there will be no viewing. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am, Thursday, September 8 at the Westmont Presbyterian Church. In lieu of flowers, family suggests donations be made in his memory to Windber Hospice, 600 Somerset Ave., Windber, PA 15963 or Westmont Presbyterian Church, 601 Luzerne St, Johnstown, PA 15905.
