Burkholder, Robert D., 90, Johnstown, died January 21, 2017 at Arbutus Park Manor. Born May 31, 1926, Johnstown, son of the late Elbie and Lena (Krause) Burkholder. Preceded in death by his brothers, James and Jack. Survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Hazel M. (Parke); daughter, Barbara Freeman; three grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews, including Thomas Parke and Betty Parke, Kenneth Thomas, and Janet Finch, who were his caregivers; and, his cousins, Evelyn Neis and Evelyn Krause. Robert worked for Johnstown Traction Company for 22 years and retired from Verizon as a Maintenance Supervisor after 31 years. He was active in the Lions Organization having served as the President of Lorrain/Moxham Club, the District Governor and State Council Chairman. He was also a member of the Valley of Altoona Scottish Rite and was also the past President of the Johnstown Inter-Service Club. A member of First United Methodist Church, Johnstown, where he served on the Board of Trustees and was an Usher. A memorial service will be held Friday, January 27, 1 p.m. at First United Methodist Church, 436 Vine St., Pastor Ed Harold, officiating. Interment Forest Lawn Cemetery.
