Smith, Roland D., 77, Portage, went to be with his Lord and Savior on May 5, 2021 after losing his battle to cancer. Born August 27, 1943 to the late Leo and Muriel (Coles) Smith. Preceded in death by parents and brother, Gerald Smith. Survived by loving wife, Judi (Bouch) Smith; children, Jennifer Moore and fiancé Joe; Roger Smith and wife Lisa; Kerry Smith and husband Al Giordano; Kristi Smithbower and husband Michael; grandchildren, Rea, Colton, Kacy, Justice, Kyra, Hunter, Paige, and Dante; great granddaughter, Elena; brother, William Smith and wife Ruth; sister, Becky Kovach; and beloved dog, Gypsy. Roland was a good family man who loved his children, helping people, and animals. He was a homebody and enjoyed hunting and fishing. Roland volunteered for over 20 years at the Portage Food Pantry and retired after 20 plus years from SCI Cresson. After retiring, Roland enjoyed helping his daughter at her flower shop where he would deliver orders. He loved seeing people smile and making them happy. Special thank you to Windber Hospice, especially Marie, Melanie, and Dr. Warshel for their compassion and care. At Roland’s request there will be no viewing. A memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. Monday May 10th at Portage Community Church, 1111 Main St., Portage.
