Mackell, Ronald Ray, 83, Johnstown, passed away peacefully August 17, 2021, at his home on Benshoff Hill, with his wife of 62 years by his side. Born June 24, 1938, to the late Wilber and Nora (Adams) Mackell. Preceded in death by sisters, Joyce Rader and Kathy Little. Survived by his loving wife Sally (Jones) Mackell; son, Ronald R. Mackell Jr. (Eli) of San Antonio, TX; daughter, Susan L. Heider (Joseph Godinich Jr) of League City, TX; brother, Lloyd J. Mackell (April) of Johnstown, PA; special niece, Hope Hegedus, of Bellefonte, PA; six grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Ron was an incredibly hard worker. He was retired from Bethlehem Steel, after 29-years of service, lastly as general foreman at Williams Farm in Franklin; and most recently Boscov’s, after 17-years of service, as manager of the Men’s Suits Department. Ron was a member of the Masonic Lodge 538, 32nd Degree Mason and Consistory in Altoona. He enjoyed playing the organ and piano, loved to mow his yard and ride his tractor, and tell impromptu stories to his grandchildren. Ron’s faith in God and love for his family helped him through a grueling three-year battle with cancer. He will be greatly missed. God bless you beloved husband, dad and pap. Rest in peace. Services will be held privately.
