Taylor, Ronald William “RT”, 64, Hopewell, died Feb. 13, 2016 at Memorial Medical Center. Born Jan. 5, 1952, Johnstown, son of Roy and Vivan (Singer) Taylor. Survived by parents, Delaware; brother, Robert “T”, Colorado; and sister, Susan Brower, Collegeville. Ron spent his first 18 years in an Air Force family, living in Germany and six different states. He was an Eagle Scout and high-achiever in school. In 1970, as a High School senior, Ron was voted the “Best High School Artist in America” by his peers at a nationwide competition in Lawrence, Kansas. He earned his Bachelor of Arts in Fine Arts from IUP and through ROTC became a Lieutenant in the U.S. Army, being stationed in Germany. He later received his Master’s in Painting from the Philadelphia College of Art. Ron was a teacher, gallery painter, genealogist, and treasure hunter. Later in life, he was an editorial cartoonist for the Philadelphia Public Record and widely loved for his “R-Toons.” For those who knew Ron, he was truly larger than life, with a limitless curiosity, hardy laugh, strong faith in God and a penchant for telling long tales. Ron never married and was a good friend to many people. Private memorial service and interment at Forest Lawn Cemetery on Feb. 18.
