Greenland, Ruth V. – 93, Westover, went to be with Lord on Sunday October 8, 2017, at Haida Manor. Born August 23, 1924, in Westover, PA; she was a daughter of the late Milo and Ethel (Lloyd) McCandless. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Clayton J. Greenland, her siblings, Pauline Baker-Greenwalt, Hester Berringer, Harry McCandless, and David M. McCandless. Ruth is survived by her children, Clayton R. “Butch” Greenland and his wife Sandy, New Florence; Gwen Sward and her husband Barry, Westover; Regis M. Greenland, Cherry Tree; Kim Giordano, New Port Richey, FL; Mandie Kachelriess and her husband Scott, Brooksville, FL; her grandchildren, Dana Hyams (Allen), Michael Greenland (Mindy), Stacie Fronk (Donald), Jarrod Sward (Colleen), Mariah Shields (Kevin), Chrissie McClure (Samuel), Kenneth Pierce Jr. (Adriana), Dusti Tebbs (Brian), Tara Spaid; great grandchildren, Alyssa (Jeremy), Pierce, Jasper, Emerson, Hunter, Aaralyn, Jarrod Jr., Colton, Kaiden, Payne, Brock, Kylie, Haley, Briannah, Clayton, Leela; her siblings, Violet Beck, Leona Daisley, Miriam Lawson-Hamrick; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Ruth was retired from the United States Postal Service, where she worked as the Postmistress in Westover. She was a devout catholic and was a member of St. Bernard Catholic Church. Ruth enjoyed Bingo and shopping with Katie, bus trips, sewing, gardening, going on trips to Florida, she enjoyed cake decorating, and for a time did that at The Quaker Market in Barnesboro. Most importantly she loved spending time with her family. Friends and family will be received on Thursday October 12, 2017 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Easly-Hindman Funeral Home, 333 Beaver St., Hastings, PA 16646. And again at St. Bernard Catholic Church on Friday October 13, 2017 from 10 a.m. until time of Funeral Mass at 11 a.m., Father Thaddeus Rettger O.S.B. Officiating. Interment will be at St. Bernard Cemetery.
