Simmons, Tamara Lynn “Tammy”, 62, Jackson Township, went to be with the Lord November 22, 2020 at Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center with her loving son by her side. Born August 10, 1958 to the late John and Dorothy (Price) Macik. Preceded in death by mother and father in law, E.J. and Agatha Simmons; sister in law, Doris Williams; and brother in law, Larry Nanna. Survived by loving husband, Douglas Simmons; son, Shane Simmons and wife Alexandria; brother, John Macik and wife Tina; brothers and sisters in law, Ed Simmons and wife Jackie; Elaine Boring and husband Tom; Janet Nanna; special aunt, Donna Mayhle and husband Ross; and numerous close cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. Tammy was a 1976 graduate of Chartiers Houston High School where she played clarinet in the concert band and was a member of the color guard in the marching band. She was a 1979 graduate of California University of Pennsylvania, where she obtained her bachelor’s degree in speech and hearing pathology. She retired from Ebensburg Center in 2014 as Residential Services Supervisor after 34 years. Tammy had a circle of close friends from the Ebensburg Center that she would often have dinner with. She also enjoyed lunch dates with her sister in law, Jackie and quality time with her good friends, Kim, Sherry, and Lora-Lynn. Tammy enjoyed spending holidays with her family and spoiled her nieces and nephews any chance she got. She loved the beach, crafting, time at the cabin with family, camping trips to Raystown Lake, and trips to California with her Aunt Donna. Tammy and Doug shared a love for gospel music and The Gaither Vocal Band. She was a loving mother and wife and the kindest most thoughtful person Doug ever met. Tammy was a very charitable person. She and Doug often supported Wounded Warrior Project, Tunnels to Towers, St. Jude Children’s Hospital, Shriners Hospital, and sponsored Lovisa, a Uganda child through Christians Children’s Fund. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Tammy’s memory to any of the previously listed charities. A memorial service will be announced at a later date in 2021.
