He was a teacher in the Greater Johnstown School District for over 30 years, and upon retirement served as a tireless volunteer for organizations including the Mountain Laurel Chapter of Trout Unlimited, Somerset County Humane Society, and NAMI. Tom was an avid fly fisherman, lifelong athlete and long-distance runner, and Pittsburgh sports fan. He loved animals and had many dogs and cats throughout his life, including three rescue cats who survive him. Tom was committed to progressive causes, including preserving a clean environment, animal rescue, social justice and fairness to all. Most importantly, Tom was a devoted husband and father.
