Simunich, Thomas John Jr., 80, Johnstown, passed away June 27, 2022, at Memorial Medical Center. Born July 24, 1941, to the late Thomas and Anna (Unisko) Simunich, Sr. Preceded in death by wife, Paulett, and sister, Catherine Buchan-Haebich, and brothers-in-law John Santichen, Jack Buchan, and Joseph Masoryak. Survived by children, Tom and Bethany Simunich; sisters, Frances Santichen; Maryann Masoryak; Anna Marie Mowery (Ray); and numerous nieces and nephews. Tom was a veteran of the U.S. Army Signal Corps, having served in the Korean War. He earned a BS in Electrical Engineering from the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown and worked the majority of his professional career at Penelec in Johnstown. He was a member of the Croatian Fraternal Union of America, the Elks, VFW Post 15040, and the Stamp Club of Johnstown, in which he found great enjoyment. Thomas also enjoyed playing Bridge and hunting and fishing in his younger years. Services will be held privately. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Thomas’ memory to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital and the Humane Society of Cambria County (Johnstown).
