Thomas, Verna R., 93, Johnstown, formerly of Hollsopple, died April 24, 2020 at The Lutheran Home at Johnstown. Born April 22, 1927 in Hooversville to the late Bruce and Martha (Brubaker), Hollsopple. Preceded in death by loving husband of 48 years, Norman; siblings; and special cousin. Survived by son; daughter; grandchildren; great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and special god child. Due to Covid-19, services were delayed. A memorial service will now be held Friday, September 10th at 11 a.m. at Moxham Lutheran Church, 500 Park Ave., Johnstown, PA 15902. Thomas, Verna R., 93, Johnstown, formerly of Hollsopple, died April 24, 2020 at The Lutheran Home at Johnstown. Born April 22, 1927 in Hooversville Rd#2 to the late Bruce and Martha (Brubaker), Hollsopple. Was a loving wife, mother, and devoted grandmother and great grandmother. Preceded in death by loving husband of 48 years, Norman; brothers, Maurice, Donald, Richard, Charles; sisters, Elaine Maggs, Emma Dietrich; and special cousin, Mabel Brubaker who made her home with them. Verna was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Survived by son, Durwin and wife Jane, Johnstown; daughter, Lorre, Washington, PA; grandchildren, Jessica and husband Kelly DeAngelo, Elkridge, MD; Hailey and husband Bryan Acanto, Washington, PA; Chelsie Smith and  Marc Smith, both of Johnstown; great grandchildren, Kipton, Cecilia, and Harlow; many nieces, nephews, and special god child, Leslie Sendek. She worked as a seamstress for many years. After retirement she and her husband had an upholstering business for 12 years. They spent 15 winters in Phoenix and were associated members of the Community Church of Joy. Her love was sending cards, preparing meals for family and friends, and volunteering at St. Vincent DePaul. Verna was a member of Moxham Lutheran Church. At Verna’s request there will be no viewing. A memorial service will be held at the church at a later date. Donations may be made in Verna’s memory to Moxham Lutheran Church, The Lutheran Home at Johnstown, or Windber Hospice.
