Butara, Victor, 83, Johnstown, died Jan. 27, 2015, at Memorial Medical Center. Born Oct. 11, 1931, to the late Frank and Luise (Pesic) Butara. Preceded in death by brothers, Joseph, Frank Jr., William, Edward and John; and sisters, Ann, Mary and Stella. Survived by wife, Dorothy (Miller) Butara; son, Victor Butara Jr., Johnstown; grandchildren, Jessica, Heidi, Luke and Cody Butara, all of Johnstown; nieces, Luise, West Virginia; Judy, Michigan; and nephew, George, Virginia. Member of St. Therese and a veteran of the Air Force. He loved to cook and bake for his neighbors, playing cards, gambling, tennis and his dog, Sam. Victor was a steelworker for a majority of his life and never missed a Pittsburgh Pirates or Steelers game. Friends will be received from 9 to 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 30, at Hindman Funeral Homes & Crematory, Inc., 1521 Frankstown Road, where service will be held at 11 a.m., the Rev. Bernard Karmanocky, OFM, officiating. A luncheon will be held at Ace’s following the service. Memorial contributions may be made to the animal shelter.
