Benton, Viola M., 76, Portage, died May 22, 2015 at her home. Born July 31, 1938 to the late Charles and Anna (Mayher) Schmidt. Preceded in death by husband, Donald E. Benton. Survived by children Donald Benton, (Joyce); Kathy Zinner; Charlie Benton, (Leah); brother, Paul Schmidt, (Bonnie); grandchildren, Brandi Benton; Krista Zinner; Justin Benton, (Lacey); Becky and Taylor Benton; great grandchildren Jenna and Sydney Benton; great great grandchild Hayden Alec Thompson; and special cousin Donald Schmidt. Viola enjoyed crocheting, baking, crafts, and camping. She also enjoyed organized family reunions and was interested in genealogy. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday May 29th at Prospect Cemetery, located on Cemetery Rd. in Portage,  Pastor Tim Dietrich officiating.
