Weakland – Virginia ‘’Gin’’ Marie (Holtz), Hastings, died on November 16, 2021. Born Sept 7, 1927, Johnstown. Daughter of the late Andrew and Marie (Donoughe) Holtz. Preceded in death by husband, Henry (Hook), who died Oct. 1, 1998; brothers, William, Patrick, and Alllan Holtz; and sisters-in-law, Jean, Mae, Eleanor, and Judy Holtz. Survived by children, Donald (Denise) of Honey Brook, PA, Jerome of Patton, PA, Kathryn Angert of York, PA, William of Hastings, PA, and Lori (Arthur) Stewart of Littlestown, PA; grandchildren, Aaron (Angelika) and Adam Weakland; Christina and B.J. Weakland, Matt (Lauren) Angert, Emily Aten, Sara (Oshaka) Pinto, and Briana (Ian) Sowers; great grandchildren, Penny and Violet Weakland, Carson Offman, Clare and Cooper Angert, Tyler Aten, and Willow Pinto; and brothers, John of State College, PA, and Father Vernon Holtz, O.S.B. of St. Vincent’s College, Latrobe, PA. Virginia enjoyed family gatherings, especially Christmas Eve, was an avid reader and loved visiting the Hastings Library. She loved music, especially piano and violin which her father played. During the war years she worked in Latrobe. After the war she married, raised a family and she and her husband built their home brick by brick. She loved going dancing at the Sunset Ballroom, playing cards with friends and bowling and gathering with friends at the Moose. She had a deep Catholic faith and attended St. Bernard’s Church, 148 7th Ave, Hastings, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, November 22, at 11 am, Father Thaddeus Rettger officiating. Family and friends will be received one hour prior to the mass at the church. Committal at St. Boniface Cemetery.
