Bloom Wayne Obit Pic

Bloom, Wayne “Buttsie”, 91, New Florence, went home to God July 23, 2022. Born March 6, 1931. Preceded in death by wife, Betty (Robinson). Wayne was an Army Veteran and served in the Korean War. He worked as a barber and also at Bethlehem Steel. He tried to stay active every day, even into his 91st year and loved to tinker around the yard and house with various “projects”; little additions to the house and anything with wood. Wayne was very intelligent and resourceful. He converted many trees from his yard into posts and rails for fencing around his yard. He could fix just about anything and was exceptionally talented at delivering true hilarious stories about the family, ancestors, people, and events in his life growing up in New Florence. A grade school friend’s essay receiving a good mark read: “Rain. No Game.” Dad had so many hilarious and wonderful true stories to share, we could’ve listened for hours! He was the last and youngest of his siblings: Guy Bloom, Irene Schaffer, Rowena Stickney, and Gladys Peterson. Survived by 4 children, Jacqueline Wagner of Windber, Jennifer Mays of Oregon, Pamela Bloom of New Florence, and Douglas Bloom of Virginia; 3 grandchildren, Stephan Mays of Oregon, Jesse Hall of Johnstown, and Laurel Helms of Windber; and 1 great granddaughter, Madelyn Helms of Windber. Arrangements in care of Hindman Funeral Homes & Crematory, Inc. “Exclusive Provider of Veterans and Family Memorial Care.” Condolences may be made at HindmanFuneralHomes.com
