Childs, Will, 91, passed away peacefully on December 18, 2017 at Windber Hospice near Johnstown, Pa. Born in a coal-mining patch near Masontown, Pa, Will served with honor in the US Navy during World War II. He married the love of his life, Rosella Farrier (nee Richter), and settled in Ellwood City. He sold insurance with American General in the Ellwood—New Castle area, moving up in the company throughout his 35-year career. Being quick to laugh and tell a story or a joke, Will made friends wherever he went. He enjoyed walking at Brush Creek Park and exercising at the Beaver County YMCA. He could often be found in his workshop, utilizing his wood-working talents to create anything from small wooden boxes to large furniture pieces for the people he loved. He was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Rosella, and is survived by his children: Donald (Cindy) Farrier of Johnstown, with whom he lived for the past year, Patricia Frankel of Beaver Falls, Cynthia Brunken of Slippery Rock, Jeffrey (Lisa) Childs of Strattanville, and James (Kelly) Childs of Altoona, as well as 12 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his caring friends and neighbors and dear friend Lori Lintz of Ellwood City. Friends will be received from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, December 30 at Hindman Funeral Home & Crematory, 146 Chandler Avenue, Johnstown, PA 15906. A memorial service will begin at 11:30 a.m. A private burial of his ashes will occur in the spring. The family wishes to express deep gratitude to the nurses and doctors of Windber Hospice for their excellent care. In the lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to: Windber Hospice, 600 Somerset Ave, Windber, PA 15963 (www.windbercare.org). Arrangements in care of Hindman Funeral Homes & Crematory, Inc., 1521 Frankstown Rd., “Exclusive Provider of Veterans & Family Memorial Care,” Condolences may be made at HindmanFuneralHomes.com
