Kane, William A. Sr. “Bill”, 78, of Johnstown, passed away November 5, 2020 at Windber Hospice. Born August 18, 1942 in Philadelphia; He was preceded in death by parents, his father John A. Kane Jr. and stepmother, Hilda M. (Hielman) Kane and his mother, Constance Ann (Rogers) Bird and stepfather Joe Bird; his father and mother-in-law, Walter and Mary Raymond. He is also preceded in death by a sister, Judy Bird, brother-in-law, Michael McCarthy and best friend, Joe Smith. Survived by loving wife of 30 years, Barbara J. (Raymond) Kane; a son, William Kane Jr. (Angela) of Laporte, IN; daughter, Jeana M. Kane of Valpraiso, IN; siblings, Susie Lewis (Steve), Jill McCarthy, Patricia Reed (Jamie), Kenneth Bird (Griselda), Nancy Bird (George), Gregory Bird, Arthur Kane, Kathleen Kosares (Paul), Carolyn Gailhouse (Dan), and Nancy Dixon (Dan); 4 grandchildren, Beth, Jimmy, Branden and William Kane; and 2 great grandchildren, Adriana and Ike; sisters-in-law, Carol Kayser (Don), Joyce Stenger (Tom); many nieces and nephews; fur babies, Sammy and Sweetie Pie. Bill served in the U.S. Army National Guard. He retired from Bethlehem Steel where he was an accountant for 30 years. Bill later drove school bus for Ribblett Bus Lines for 20 years. He was a member of the Greater Johnstown Saddle Club, and Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church. He enjoyed skiing and was involved in the Ski Patrol and various Ski Clubs in Indiana. Due to Covid19 services will be private for family only. He had a lifelong passion for horses and raised many show horses over the years. Because of his love for horses’ memorial donations may be made to Camp Allegheny, 100 Camp Allegheny Dr., Stoystown, PA 15563.
