Jones, William “Bill” E., 85, Johnstown, died October 24, 2016 at the Lutheran Home. Born April 2, 1931, in Johnstown, son of the late Francis P. and Mabel E. (Shaffer) Jones. Preceded in death by wife of 61 years, Donna J. (Howard). Survived by daughter, Jennifer, married to Ian Mitchell, Redondo Beach, CA; son, Thomas D. Jones, Johnstown and grandchildren, Jessica and Joshua Nicoloro, Redondo Beach, CA; and brother, Robert Jones, married to Patti, OH. Bill served in the US Army, was a member of the Morrellville Church of the Brethren, American Legion, and VFW. He was employed by the Tribune Democrat as a journalist, being recognized by many groups and organizations; receiving numerous awards for his work. Bill was presented with the award of Honorary Citizen of the City of Johnstown by Mayor Herbert Pfuhl, Jr. in 1993. He also enjoyed spending time with his family at their camp in Bedford and liked to fish. Friends will be received from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, Hindman Funeral Homes & Crematory, Inc., 146 Chandler Ave, where funeral service will be held at 11am Saturday, Pastor John Manges and Pastor Dan Shaffer, officiating.
