TOMAK, William E. “Mit”, 83, Johnstown, died August 21, 2021 at home, surrounded by his family. Born January 11, 1938, Johnstown to the late Roy Sr. and Catherine (Komensky) Tomak. Preceded in death by brother, Roy Tomak, Jr.; and his son-in-law, Douglas Golias. Survived by wife of 64 years, Nancy (Meier) Tomak; children, Diana Whaley and husband George, Edward Tomak and wife Lisa, Mark Tomak and wife Mary Jo, Monica Lempertz and husband Tom, Ronald Tomak, Tina Golias, Michele Petry and husband Bill, Teresa Knight and husband Gary; very good family friend, Tom Lewis; grandchildren, Justin, Kaylee, Angela, Lucas, Desarae, Heather, Annalee, Aaron, Shannon, Jocelyn, and Andrew; great grandchildren, Kyra, Jaxsen, and one on the way; four sisters; two brothers; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

As a teenager, he worked with Harry Kohlar to open the first pizza shop (Harry’s Pizza) in Johnstown, eventually running his own shop for several years. He met his wife at Mulkey’s Restaurant next door, and they were married on June 8, 1957. He worked for Bethlehem Steel for 30 years and afterward at Penelec as a chauffeur and became a Group Supervisor in the Transportation Department before retiring. He was a member of Resurrection Church and was a former member of the Middle Taylor Township Citizen’s Group. He was an avid golfer, playing until he could no longer physically play. He also enjoyed gardening and spending time with his family. At the request of the deceased, there will be no viewing or public service. A private mass and burial will be scheduled at a later date.
