Snyder, Sara Jean, 93, Johnstown, went home to our Lord and Savior on October 15, 2023. Born June 2, 1930, to the late Theodore “Ted” and Ivy (Metzger) Hunt. Also preceded in death by her husband of 23 years, Alfred Glen Snyder (deceased 11/24/1973); siblings, Lois (Wilbur) Leidy; infant sister, Evana; Elma (James) Koon; John (Faye Rummel) Hunt; Maxine (John “Jack”) Lehman; and daughter, Arley Jane (Snyder) Bestvina and husband Timothy “Tim” Bestvina. Sara was the last surviving of her immediate family. Survived by two daughters, Glenda Jean Snyder; Sherri Maxine Devlin and husband, Robert “John”, all of Johnstown, PA; grandchildren, Danette (Bestvina) Grasser, Johnstown; Joseph Bestvina, Tire Hill, PA; Sarah (Devlin) Mull and husband Daniel; Fredericktown, OH; John “Collier” Devlin and wife Taylor (Pohlman), Alexandria, KY; great-grandchildren, Coty Grasser and Kiley Brandle, Johnstown; E3 Dominic Hughes, U.S. Navy (currently deployed for active duty); Morgan “Riley” Bestvina and Madelyn Arley Bestvina, Tire Hill; Morgyn Elise (Jacob) Rearick, Hublersburg, PA; Hunter Thomas, Cresson, PA; Maddox Mull, Deagan Mull & great-granddaughter Mull expected in February 2024; great great-grandchildren, Arizona and Felix Rearick; and several nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephew and their families. Sara Jean was a graduate of East Conemaugh High School, class of 1949. She retired in 1990 after 12 years of service with the Jackson Township Water Authority. Prior to her retirement at the Water Authority, she worked for Johnstown Orthodontics, Lee Hospital, and Valley Oral Surgeons. Sara was a hard worker, having been raised on a farm. She also enjoyed cooking, canning, and baking, especially her cinnamon rolls that she shared with everyone with a cup of coffee. Jean was Baptized on 08/21/1939 and was a life-time member of the Pleasant Hill Church of the Brethren. Throughout her membership she taught Sunday School, was part of the church choir, was part of the Music & Worship Committee, and helped with church dinners and Vacation Bible School. She was very devoted to our Heavenly Father, family and friends. Family and friends will be received Thursday October 19th from 10 a.m. until time of service at 1:30 p.m. at Hindman Funeral Homes & Crematory, Inc., 1521 Frankstown Rd. Pastor Rob Wolf, officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Pleasant Hill Church of the Brethren, 856 Benshoff Hill Rd., Johnstown, PA  15906, in memory of Sara Jean Snyder.
