Obituary

Lohr, William, 73, Johnstown, passed away on June 21, 2015 at Banner Estrella Hospital in Phoenix Arizona from an Auto-Immune Lung Disease while visiting with his son and daughter.  Born December 30, 1941 to the late Arthur Merle and Marguerite Elizabeth (Saylor) Lohr.  Preceded in death by brother, Robert; in-laws Kenneth and Mildred Cashman; and sister-in-law, Georgeanna Thomas. Survived by wife of 50 years, Diana; children, Michael (Cathy), Matthew (Deanna), Jason (Quannie) Lohr; and Katherine Inscho, (John); grandchildren, Christiana Zahn (Jason), Brooks, Sara (Darin), and Brandon Lohr, (Jenna); Maggie, Brooklynne, Hunter and Alaina Inscho; LaQuan Graves; Crystal Summers, (Leo); Tim George, (Sandy); and Amanda Kamzik, (Todd); great grandchildren, Hallee Zahn; Morgan and Madison Moss; Savannah Hoke; Jayden Graves-Swanson; Ava and Ella Summers; Kamryn and Kase Kamzik; and Brody and Bayla George; sisters, Shirley Tipton, (Harold), Ohio; Susan Kelley, (Russell), Johnstown; and sister-in-law, Jane Lohr, Johnstown. His family was the love of his life.  Bill retired after 25 years from the Federal Government as a Congressional Aide for both John P. Saylor and John P. Murtha.  He served for a period of time as Director of the Johnstown Housing Authority.  He was presently employed by the Cambria County Child Care program, working through the Johnstown School District.  He worked the after school program and summer in the city.  Over the years he was affectionately known by the kids as “Mr. Bill”.  He was an avid sports fan who loved attending the AAABA and in his younger years he played for the ISDA team. He gave back to the youth by coaching baseball at various levels.  His favorite teams being the Washington Redskins, Washington Nationals and the Pittsburgh Penguins.  He was a member of Salix Bethel United Methodist Church, where he served for several years as Sunday School Superintendent and usher. He also belonged to the Inquiring Believers Sunday School class.  Friends will be received from 1-7 p.m. Friday July 3 at Hindman Funeral Homes & Crematory, Inc., 146 Chandler Ave., with service beginning at 7 p.m., Pastor Don Poole officiating. Cremation to follow. To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord.
