Steve Katrancha

April 21, 1956- May 7, 2025

Today we honor the life of Steve Katrancha, who left this earth May 7, 2025. It was a gorgeous spring day when he passed, and we can envision him taking one last stroll through the fields of the farm he was raised on outside of Dunlo, PA. before joining with those who were waiting for him. We are sure his parents, Marko Katrancha and Dorothy (Matula) Katrancha, welcomed him with open, waiting arms on the other side of that sunny field, along with his brother George and many beloved pets who all proceeded him to the other side.

Steve was a carpenter. He could create beauty out of the ordinary. He could build anything and remodeled his home numerous times over his lifetime, always making it a sanctuary for his family. Steve would, and did, drive for miles to help rescue a dog or pick up a new puppy family member. For many years he worked at Dravis Lumber before retiring and forming Kats Krafts with his soul mate and wife, Roxie (Swain) Katrancha. Steve is survived by Roxie, his wife of 48 years. He was a devoted husband and loved her unconditionally.

Steve and Roxie had one beautiful child together- Amanda (Katrancha) Ward, wife of Jerry, who was the absolute apple of his eye. With his marriage he inherited three additional children. Mary J (Golden) Hribar, wife of James, Stephanie (Golden) Stefan, and Jason Golden and lifetime partner Chrissy Slifco. He had his hands full with our family but mostly handled it with grace. Occasionally he could be heard muttering, “damn kids” under his breath but all in all he was a trooper!

He is survived by all the ‘damn kids’ (hahaha!) and the following grandchildren, which made having four ‘damn kids’ worth it. Steve was ‘Pop’ to Devina Horvath Vincent, and Eric, Chelsey Stefan and Mark, Bruce Ward, Ian Horvath and Jacly, Jake Stefan and Hannah, Austin Hribar and Emmi, Evan Lozar, Eddie, Sookie, Hank, Joan, Queenie, and Veronica. Pop also is survived by great grandchildren Colin Hobson, Forest Vincent, Morgan and Roxie Ward, Malachi Griffin, Athena Hribar, and Waylon, Ryker, and Audrey Stefan. Steve is also survived by loving, close, family friends, “Framily” if you will, AJ Chromy, and Kate and Tash Fallon. Lastly, he is survived by his loyal, devoted dog Leopold, who was by his side. Literally. May we all know such unconditional love while finishing our time on this earth. We will miss you. We know how much of a struggle life has been for you this last while. Your body was tired and done, but we know your soul is with those who have gone before; whole, happy, pain-free and at last at peace. Godspeed Pop.
