Obituary

Bolha, Emil S. Jr., 86, passed away May 30, 2025, at Laurel View Village. Born August 5, 1938, to the late Emil S. and Mary (Labosky) Bolha Sr. Preceded in death by sister, Irene Popp (John), and brother-in-law, Jay Moody. Survived by loving wife of 60 years this month, Janice (Moody) Bolha; nieces, Garnice Leer (Frederick); Janice Zuro (Michael); David Moody (Susan); William Moody (JoAnn); great nieces and nephews, Andrew Leer (Raghda Saad); Elaine Wyborski (Adam); Nicholas Zuro (Danielle); Melissa Snelbaker (Cody); Ellie Moody; David Moody and 7 great great nieces and nephews.
Emil was a 1956 graduate of Westmont High School, where he also enjoyed playing basketball and being the quarterback for the football team. Emil graduated from IUP and went on to be a math teacher for Westmont School District for many years, where he also found great joy in coaching basketball and football. He touched many lives over the years through his coaching and teaching. One of Emil’s greatest enjoyments came from traveling the world. He and Janice managed to visit every continent except Antarctica. He also enjoyed playing bridge, flower gardening, and rode many miles by bicycle with his wife on the Great Allegheny Passage. He and Janice were faithful and active members of the Moxham Lutheran Church for many years and later, St. Davids Lutheran Church.
Emil was a kind and gentle man. He was very generous, always willing to help and volunteer and donated to many organizations over the years.
We as a family want to thank the staff at Laurel View Village for the exceptional loving care given to Emil throughout the many happy years of living at the Village. We also want to thank our cousin, Andy, for being attentive to Emil’s needs and keeping in touch with his nieces.
On Friday, June 6th at 3 p.m., a memorial service will be held in the chapel at Laurel View Village, 2000 Cambridge Drive, Davidsville, PA. The Chapel will be open from 1 to 4 p.m. to view the many events in Emil Bolha’s life.
On Saturday, June 7th there will be a viewing from 10 a.m. until time of service at 11:30 a.m. at Hindman Funeral Home, 1521 Frankstown Rd., Johnstown, PA. Interment to follow at the Forest Lawn Cemetery.
