Obituary
Gloria J. Mackell
September 9, 1942 – November 7, 2025
MACKELL – Gloria J., 83, Johnstown, passed away November 7, 2025, at Maple Heights Health & Rehab Center. Born September 9, 1942, to the late Domer G. and Ann (Butala) Hammer. Preceded in death by beloved husband of 63 years, Brian L. Mackell; and brother Domer J. Hammer (Jim).
Survived by daughter, Sherry N. James and husband Roland; grandchildren Wade James and wife Tabitha; Lindsey (James) Corcetti married Michael; and six beautiful great grandchildren: Addison, Liv, Silas, Taven, Louden and Jet. Also, brother-in-law Dennis J. Mackell.
Gloria was a “domestic engineer” and very happy in the role of taking care of her family and home. Gloria also spent many years in the role of caretaking to her family members in need – doing it all with a smile and a servant’s heart.
She was a lifelong member of Mt. Olive United Methodist Church. We know she is basking in the light and love of her Savior now in eternal peace, wrapped in His loving arms, totally healed and joined again with her husband waiting for the rest of us.
Her favorite past times always included spending time with family, who she loved with such a big heart! In her healthy years, Gloria loved to cook and bake – where her talent truly shined – and was especially well known for her delicious nut rolls and pierogies! Gloria could be ready to go shopping at the drop of a hat; and even if no purchases were made, lunch out and just being together was always a treat! Every morning at home started with cooked coffee from a glass percolator on her stovetop, and she enjoyed the back porch swing on nice days with a possible black raspberry ice cream cone – always having extra to share if you would join her.
At Gloria’s request, there will be no public services. Arrangements in care of Hindman Funeral Homes & Crematory, Inc., “Exclusive Provider of Veterans and Family Memorial Care.”Condolences may be made at HindmanFuneralHomes.com.
