Obituary

Covalt, Robert E. “Bob”, 84, Johnstown, passed away March 18, 2014 at Laurel View Village. Born February 15, 1930 in Johnstown; son of the late Earl Franklin and Bertha Alberta (Bassett) Covalt. Survived by loving wife of 60 years, Jo Ann (Byers) whom he married on April 18, 1953. Also survived by daughters, Cathy Jo and husband Timothy D. Clawson, Littleton, CO; Tammie and husband Wayne D. Potvin, Pittsburgh; Wendy and husband Michael P. Hudak Jr., Johnstown; Amy and husband Leo J. Ratchford, Manassas Park, VA; grandsons Joseph Ryan and his wife Tracey (Deyarmin), Frederick, MD; Daniel Ryan, Bellfonte, PA; Robbie Ratchford, Manassas Park, VA; great grandson Kaleb Marcus Ryan, Frederick, MD; and his sister, Annice and husband James Allison, Johnstown.
Bob was a member of Pleasant Hill Church of the Brethren. He served in the U.S. Coast Guard during the Korean War. He retired from Bethlehem Steel where he worked as an electrician. Bob also enjoyed farming the family land.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Hindman Funeral Homes and Crematory, Inc., 1521 Frankstown Road, Johnstown, PA 15902. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at Pleasant Hill Church of The Brethren; Pastor Phil King officiating. Interment will be Private. Military rights will be performed by the Menoher VFW Post 155 Ritual Team.
