Obituary

GROVE – Theresa Lynne, 49, Homer City, passed away July 16 at home. Born February 22, 1964 in Jeffersonville, IN, daughter of George and Lois Draksler.

She was preceded in death by her mother and an infant brother, Troy Jacob. Survived by husband John and their son John Isaac; sisters Christine Abramo, and husband, Peter, Wooster, Ohio; Deborah Black, Homer City; Julie Draksler, Reno, Nev.; and brother Pete Draksler, and wife, Toni, Seward; nieces and nephews Torrie, Kaylie, Annie and Jacob Abramo; Brett, Brad and Allyssa Black; and Laken and Jaden Draksler.

She was a member of the Blacklick Community United Methodist Church, Vintondale, and she held various positions in local Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts of America.

A 1982 graduate of United High School, she earned numerous academic scholarships and a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Juniata College in 1987. She also was awarded a full graduate research assistantship at Indiana University of Pennsylvania in 1987 and worked toward a Master’s degree in Environmental Biology.

She was formerly employed as a medical transcriptionist for a national service, and she served as the primary caregiver for her late grandmother, Joan Draksler, for 10 years until her death in 2002. She had a great appreciation for nature, and she enjoyed motherhood, time with family, gardening, camping, fishing and beach vacations.
At the request of the family, there will be no visitation. A memorial service will be held at a later date at the Blacklick Community United Methodist Church, Vintondale.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 16 at Blacklick Community United Methodist Church in Vintondale. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the church.
