Obituary

Anna D. Mesaros, 97, of Johnstown, Pennsylvania passed away peacefully on April 30, 2023. Born September 30, 1925, in Dunlo, Pennsylvania to the late Frantisek “Frank” and Sophie (Stano) Richnavsky. Preceded in death by loving husband of 29 years, Edward J. Mesaros; and siblings, Joseph Richnavsky, Mary Kurila, Margaret Borow, Stephen Richnavsky, Frank Richnavsky, Dorothy DiMarino, and Catherine Stefan. Survived by daughter, Karen A. Mesaros; stepdaughter, Bonnie (Mesaros) Ferris, her husband William, their daughters, Catherine (son Aaron), Joan and Elizabeth; and Anna’s sister, Helen Khula. Anna’s life was centered in faith where she was a member of Resurrection Roman Catholic Parish. Johnstown, Pennsylvania. She was a graduate of Adams Township High School, Sidman Pennsylvania. In her younger adult years, Anna worked in various factory positions including Euclid Lamp, Bestform and as a housekeeper. Anna was a member of various community organizations through the years. She loved her Slovak heritage, crocheting, bowling, cooking, baking, reading, gardening, and playing her special TV Bingo game. She was an avid Pittsburgh Pirates baseball fan and enjoyed home games for her birthdays. Anna was a hard worker, caregiver and had a tenacious spirit that led to her longevity. She will be deeply missed by all who loved her. Special thanks to all her caregivers over the past years who helped make her stay at home enjoyable, and to special family friend, Judith Bloom, for her continued support. Friends and family will be received Friday, May 12th from 2-8 p.m. at Hindman Funeral Homes & Crematory, Inc., 1521 Frankstown Road, Johnstown, Pennsylvania 15902. Mass to be held Saturday, May 13th at 11 a.m. at St. Clare of Assisi, 124 Maple Ave., Johnstown, Pennsylvania 15901. Private cemetery committal.
