Obituary
Goenner, Arbutus Cecelia (Price) “Boots”, 92, Johnstown died peacefully at home surrounded by her family May 15, 2010. Born May 5, 1918 in Windber, daughter of the late Thomas E. and Anna (Thompson) Price, making her the oldest living relative. Preceded in death by husband, William Francis Goenner Jr.; son, William Francis Goenner IV; brother Forrest M. Price and sister Bernice J. Hayes and her husband William and brother-in-law, George Chapple.
Survived by son, Jerry Lee Goenner; daughter-in-law, Betsy Ann (Martin) Goenner, widow of William IV; sister-in-law, Lila Price, widow of Forrest; granddaughter, Laurie Ann Goenner-Palasz, married to Miles E. Palasz; great-granddaughter, Madisen Elizabeth, all of Johnstown. Grandson, Christopher Daniel Goenner, married to the former Jodi Craig; great-grandsons, Devin Jareb and Brenton Alexander, all of Kannapolis, NC; brother Thomas T. Price and wife, Ruth, Nashville, TN; sisters Phyllis D., married to Robert Kellar, Johnstown, and Blodwyn M. Chapple, Davidsville. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Arbutus made Pennway Candies for the Penn Traffic Co., was an avid reader; loved and made ceramics and carousel horses, an avid doll collector and loved to travel. Her family owned and operated the Goenner Brewery Co and Goenner Trucking Co.
At the request of the deceased, there will be no viewing or service. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Conemaugh Hospice or St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
