Obituary

Swope, Arthur, 98, of Sidman, passed away on October 10, 2024. Born on June 19, 1926, son of the late George and Thelma (Chappell) Swope. Preceded in death by his loving wife, Martha (Gretok) Swope; brothers, Robert and George Swope; sister, Pearl Felice; and grandson, Robert Yochimowitz. Survived by daughters, Terry (Robert) Yochimowitz and Sharon (Robert) Rummel; sons, Kirby (Terri) Swope, Scott (Adriana) Swope, and Brian Swope; step-sons, Larry and Douglas Gawel; 7 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; and 3 step-grandchildren. Arthur was a proud U.S. Navy Veteran, who served our country during WWII. He was employed at Bethlehem Steel as an electrician for most of his life. Arthur was also the owner of Liberty Park in South Fork from 1984-1997. Arthur will be deeply missed by his family and friends. No services will be held at this time.
