Obituary

Hazel L. Haggerty, age 89, of Hastings passed away peacefully at home on September 22, 2021 surrounded by her loving family. She was born at home on September 3, 1932 in Indiana County. She was the daughter of the late Jennie Brewer and Merle Wissinger. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 69 years, Jack P. Haggerty, who she married on November 24, 1950; and her 4 grandchildren Matthew, Sean, Kara, and Lindsey. She is survived by 10 children: Shirley Adams (Larry), Ernie Haggerty (Kay), Leanard Haggerty (Virginia), Ken Haggerty (Jen), Joanne Haggerty, Jack Haggerty (Laura), Barb Haggerty (Carl), Deb Depto (Ron), Kim Christman (Roger), Randy Haggerty (Jenn), Joel Brancato (Stacy); 25 grandchildren: Cathy Jo, Steve, Miranda, Autumn, Kelly Jo, Heather, D.J., Brooke, Lance, April, Aaron, Justin, Cory, Meagan, Kayla, Aubree, Lucas, Emily, Eric, Alana, and Peyton; 22 great-grandchildren: Olivia, Jacob, Lillian, Tesla, Julie, Isabella, McKenzie, Holden, Dominik, Tanner, Trevor, Archer, Beckett, Max, Xander, Sophia, Roman, Liam, Brian, Aaron Michael II, Hunter, and Madelyn; and 3 brothers: Robert Weaver, Earl Wissinger, and Tony Wissinger. Hazel was a very loving, caring, and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and sister. Hazel was a member of the Church of Christ in Uniontown, PA. Over the years she worked at the Philadelphia Street Inn, The Palace Hotel, and The Cierra Lounge. Her main passions in life were her family and faith. Her infectious smile, laugh and selfless approach to life inspired those who knew her. Hazel enjoyed being surrounded by her family, cooking family meals, being pampered by her special hairstylist, Ruth, and tending to her beautiful flower beds.
