Obituary
McMullen, Helen Louise (Sabo), 88, of Nanty Glo, went home to our precious Savior Jesus Christ on November 16, 2024. Born on October 25, 1936, in Nanty Glo, daughter of the late Emery and Helen (Zonin) Sabo. Preceded in death by parents; brothers, Joseph, Emery ‘Moe’, and Stephen; sisters, Rose Marie Kovach, Dolly Younkin, and Tootsie Sabo; and stepson, David McMullen. Survived by her loving husband of 20 years, Lloyd ‘Buddy’ McMullen, of Nanty Glo; daughter, Sandra Croft, of Johnstown; grandchildren, Terry Croft Jr., of Nanty Glo, Tracy (Scott) Clayton, of Etna, OH, and Steven Croft, of Homer City; great-grandchildren, Dylan and Preston Croft, of Homer City; sister, Catherine ‘Cookie’ Silko, of Nanty Glo; extended children, Kimberly (Dave) Kaschalk, of Loretto and Daniel (Carmen) McMullen, of Ephrata; extended grandchildren, Courtney, Alley, Rosie, Charlie, Pilot, Hailey, Makylie, and Buddy; and numerous nieces and nephews. Helen was a former employee of the Conemaugh Hospital Dietary Department. She had a gift of writing beautiful poetry about the glory of God, which some of her writings were published. Helen was well known for her famous pigs in the blanket, that were requested at all family functions. She was devoted to her Christian faith and loved attending Christian Revivals. Along with her sister, Dolly, the two of them took turns driving a bus that would pick up anyone that wanted to attend church. Helen loved helping at a Christian Kids Camp in the summer, she even did a mission trip to Mexico to help build houses. Helen was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She had always said grace at all holiday meals, her absence this Thanksgiving will be deeply felt by her family. A special thank you to all the angels on 10 Ashman Palliative Care at Conemaugh Hospital. A very special thank you to angel Jordan, your acts of kindness and compassion will always be remembered. A blessed thank you to Pastor Gino Bartoletti of the 1st Baptist Church in Nanty Glo, your prayers have been so comforting, and we are forever grateful for the friendship and kindness you gave to Helen and her family.
