Obituary

Shaffer, James, J. Jr., “Jimmy”, 46, Mount Joy, PA, went home to be with the Lord July 4, 2016. Born May 24, 1970 in Johnstown to James J. and Arlene (Kaufman) Shaffer Sr. Preceded in death by father. Survived by loving mother, Arlene, Johnstown; sister, Laura Ritenour, Lebanon; nephew, Brandon Ritenour, Hampton, VA; best friend, Dan Proudley; friends and caretakers, Stacie Osborne; Bob Proudley; and many loving cousins, aunts, and uncles. Jimmy was a graduate of Richland High School and UPJ. He also attended Valley Forge Christian College. Jimmy was a history teacher in Mount Joy, PA, and many other schools throughout the state. He attended Faith Outreach Center Assembly of God in Mount Joy and enjoyed watching Christian based movies. Jimmy was a very loving person and touched so many lives. He was loved greatly by his friends and will be missed by many. Jimmy wanted to take as least amount of medication as possible and believed whether God healed him naturally or took him home to live eternity in Heaven, he’d be “a winner either way.” A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Fri. July 8 at Oakland United Methodist Church on Bedford St., Pastor Randy Bain, officiating.
