Obituary

Bobby, Laverne Christine, Johnstown, passed away August 13, 2022, at her home. Preceded in death by parents, Joseph and Margaret (Vavrek) Bobby. Survived by loving brother, James Bobby; and numerous beloved cousins, second and third cousins, all of which were more like nieces and nephews to Laverne. Also survived by many beloved friends and neighbors. Laverne was a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh, main campus, where she obtained her master’s degree. She was an English teacher at Greater Johnstown High School and was an active member of St. Therese Catholic Church. Laverne enjoyed fashion, reading, and quilting. She was a talented seamstress and loved to travel. Laverne was a wealth of knowledge and engaging conversationalist. She was a kind loving person who will be deeply missed. Family will receive friends Wednesday August 17th from 3-7 p.m. at Hindman Funeral Homes & Crematory, Inc., 146 Chandler Ave. Funeral Mass will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at St. Therese Catholic Church, burial to follow at Grandview Cemetery.
