Obituary
Scrudders, Lee S., 74, Johnstown, died at home Saturday, June 18th 2011.
Born April 14th, 1937, Johnstown, son of the late Murray R. and Martha E. (Stewart) Scrudders.
Survived by children, Sharon L. married to Tim Geibig, Johnstown;
Eric S. Scrudders married to Tammy McNierney, Lighthouse Point, Florida;
Gregg A. Scrudders, Hobe Sound, FL;
Grandchildren, Lorrin Sell, Amber Slatcoff, David Gonzalez, Julianne, Alexa, Jonah, and Owen Scrudders, Kyle and Alec Geibig; great-grandchildren, Payton, Jacoby, and Emory Sell and Finley Slatcoff.
Also, sisters, Linda Hamaty, married to Dr. Ronald, Nancy Miller, married to Carl, and
Karen Numeroff, married to Dr. Norman.
Lee graduated from Johnstown High School in 1955 and enlisted in the United States Marine Corp. and served 10 years. After 10 years of civilian work he re-enlisted in the Navy and served aboard an aircraft carrier. He retired after 10 years ending his military career as a top Navy Recruiter, and then returned to Johnstown
Lee earned the respect of his employers and co-workers with his work ethics and knowledge.
He was instrumental in the start-up of DRS Laurel Technologies when the company was founded in 1986. He served as Vice President/Chief Operating Officer until his retirement from the company in 1994.
Lee had a passion for the game of golf. He was a fierce competitor and a dedicated student of the game throughout his life. He spent many happy hours competing with his friends and attempting to master the game. He competed in many amateur tournaments and was proud to have played at many of the finest courses across the country. He enjoyed being with his family and planning family events.
At Lees request there will be no formal funeral service. His remains will be interred at Arlington National Cemetery at a later time where a military service will be held.
