Obituary

Skelly, Robert F., 68, Johnstown, passed away May 12, 2025, at Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center. Born July 31, 1956, to the late Robert J. and Eileen (Goller) Skelly. Preceded in death by brother, Brian Skelly, and brother-in-law, A.J. Petrore. Survived by loving wife, Janet, together 50 years married 46 years; children, Robert M. Skelly; Cortney Stetz (Grant); grandson, Robert E. Stetz; siblings, Laurie Polacek (Steve); Melanie Mihelic (Bryon); Karen Petrore; in-laws, Kim Chunko (Dan); Valerie Cook (Frank); Sonya Greene (Mike); and numerous nieces and nephews. Robert was a 1974 graduate of Bishop McCort and retired from the PA National Guard 28th MP Division. He was an active member of St. Gregory Catholic Church where he was a server, usher, and Eucharistic Minister. Robert was a member of Daisytown Sportsmen’s Club and a former member of the Johnstown Judo Club, where he proudly earned his second-degree black belt. Some of Robert’s greatest enjoyments came from traveling the world with his family, watching the Steelers, and tinkering in the garage. He was known as “Mr. Handyman”, who his sisters would call on to fix things around their homes. Family will receive friends Thursday, May 15th from 2-6 p.m. at Hindman Funeral Homes & Crematory, Inc., 1521 Frankstown Rd. A Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Gregory Catholic Church. Burial and military honors to follow at Oak Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Robert’s memory to Wounded Warrior Project or any local veteran’s charities.
