Patrick C. “Irish” McGlynn, 75, of Hastings, went to be with the lord on Easter Sunday, March 31, 2013 at his home surrounded by his loving family.
Preceded in death by parents, Leo and Helen (Kozub) McGlynn; infant brother, Leo McGlynn Jr., three infant children; son-in-law, George Elbel.
Survived by his wife of 52 years, Alice (Kline) McGlynn and children, Patricia Elbel (Lance Walker) Punxsutawney, Deborah (William) Strittmatter, Patton, Patrick (Theresa) McGlynn Jr., Johnstown, Colleen (Carl) Pierce, Hastings, and Barbara McGlynn at home; brother of, Helen Lewarchick, Ohio, Rose (Jack) Kolesar, New Cumberland, Thomas (Peggy) McGlynn, Patton, Jean (Wayne) Anderson, Punxsutawney, Kate (Vaune) Kizak, Northern Cambria; grandchildren, George, Clark (Melinda) and Jill Elbel, Matthew, Joseph, Christopher (Amanda), scott and Rebecca Strittmatter, Lara McGlynn, Alison, Nicole, and Noel Pierce, great grandchildren, Jason Demmler, Noah Elbel, Madison Pierce, Macy Keller, Isaac Stauski, and Baby Boy Pierce.
Patrick was a US Navy Veteran, member of the Hastings VFW and Fire Club, Patton American Legion, Hastings Fire Police, Volunteer for Cambria Heights Football “Chain Gang” for many years, member St. Bernard Catholic Church.
Pat worked at Carol Ann Apparel and McCreary Tire and Rubber, and was a bartender at Hastings VFW. Patrick attended all veterans funerals and proudly carried the American Flag in the Veteran parades until his health failed. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him, the he spent time shooting the bull with on summer nights, Long walks with Alice and helping his friends and neighbors, but especially enjoyed the time he spent with his children and grandchildren and great grandchildren they all gave him great pleasure.
Friends received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm Wednesday at Easly-Hindman Funeral Home & Crematory Inc., Hastings.
A funeral mass will be held 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Bernard Catholic Church. Burial at Church Cemetery. Military honors by local veterans organizations.
