Obituary

Russell A. “Hack” Holtz- 86, Hastings, passed away December 1, 2013, at Haida Manor.

Born June 8, 1927 in Hastings, a son of the late Ted and Helen (Gill) Holtz. Preceded in death by brothers, Damian “Doc” Holtz, Theodore “Fizz” Holtz, Tim “Tiny” Holtz and sister, Dolly Link.

Survived by his wife of 60 years, Joanne (Kibler) Holtz; children, Cindy (Jeff) Stowe; Becky Kelly; Russ Holtz and Andrea Holtz, grandchildren, Dr. Jill Kelly, married to Dr. Brandon Miller; Bryan and Matt Kelly; Scott, John and Amanda Stowe; brothers, Kenneth “Cheetah”; Dan “Bump” and sisters, Jean Kazmer and Margie Entler.

Mr. Holtz graduated from Hastings High School in 1945. He enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II. He retired from the DEP where he was a construction inspector. He was a Life Member of Hastings Fire Department and the Firemen’s Club , he was also a Life Member of the Hastings VFW Post 1586 and the Loyal Order of the Moose and was also a member of the Hastings Hunting Camp.

He was an avid hunter and Chicago Bears and Cubs fan. He enjoyed watching football and baseball on TV and especially his family coming to visit.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4pm and 6 to 8pm Tuesday December 3rd at the Easly-Hindman Funeral Home, 333 Beaver Street, Hastings and from 10am until time of funeral mass at 11am Wednesday December 4th at St Bernard Catholic Church. Interment at St. Bernard cemetery.

Those who wish may make donations in Hack’s memory to St Bernard Church, the Hastings Library or the Hastings Area Ambulance Association.
