Obituary
Theodore M. “Fizz” Holtz- 73, Hastings, passed away November 22, 2013, at Miners Hospital.
Born September 5, 1940 in Spangler; a son of the late Melidus and Helen (Gill) Holtz. Also preceded in death by brothers, Damian “Doc” Holtz, Tim Holtz; sister, Dolly Link, an aunt, Roseanna “Posey” Gill.
Survived by his wife of 35 years, Barbara (Haluska) Holtz; children, Tim and wife Karen, Hastings; Teddy, Hastings; Jackie Black and husband Joe, Fenelton; Derick and his wife Misty, Atlanta, GA; grandchildren Ethan Holtz, Owen Holtz, Caden Holtz, and Owen Black; brothers, Kenneth “Cheetah”, Russel “Hack”, both of Hastings; Dan “Bump”, North Carolina; sisters, Margie Entler and Jean Kazmer, both of Ohio.
Mr. Holtz graduated with a Bachelors of Education from Indiana University Pennsylvania in 1962. He took his first job as a teacher in Montgomery County Maryland right out of college. He retired from Marion Center High School after 42 years of service. He taught History and Drivers Education and was known as The White Owl. He was the athletic director at Harmony, and also taught Drivers Education at Northern Cambria. He coached both baseball and basketball at Marion Center, and also started the football program there. Ted and his wife owned the Home Plate restaurant in Hastings from 1982 to 1984. He was a Member of the Firemen’s Club, The Hastings VFW, and the Moose, he also had an affiliation with the Kermoor Camp.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4pm and 7 to 9pm Tuesday November 26th at the Easly-Hindman Funeral Home, 333 Beaver Street, Hastings and from 10am until time of funeral mass at 11am Wednesday November 27th at St Bernard Catholic Church. Interment at St. Boniface cemetery.
