Kiniry, Alan Lee – 59, Johnstown, passed away peacefully in his sleep after a brave battle with cancer on July 10, 2019. Born April 19, 1960 in Johnstown. Son of Gerald and Marlene (Schmidt) Kiniry. Preceded in death by his sister Patty. Alan is survived by his parents; his beloved fiancée Missy Brodt; his sisters, Lynn Dugger, and Gerry Rorabaugh (Bradley) and stepson Justin Haight and wife Becca. Alan will be missed by all who knew and loved him, especially his extended family, Paul and Anita Brodt, JJ & Sarah Vasilko, Julie & Phil Reitnauer, and the true loves of his life, Jillian, Logan, and Carson. After graduating from Bishop McCort High School Alan joined the Navy, and proudly served his country as a Naval Photographer for 21 years and was active during the war in the Persian Gulf. Alan was currently employed by the U.S. Postal Service, and worked at the Windber office. Alan was a member of the VFW, Elks, and the American Legion; and was an active member at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church. Alan will be remembered most for his easy going and giving personality. He loved spending time with those who he loved, he enjoyed collecting antiques, and tinkering in the yard. Alan loved Halloween and decorating for the holidays. At Alan’s request there will be no viewing. Friends and family will be received from 10-11 am on Saturday, July 13 at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church with a memorial service to follow the visitation. Pastor Scott Klimke, officiating. In accordance with Alan’s wishes the United States Navy will be providing a burial at sea. In lieu of flowers, donations in Alan’s memory can be made to Windber Hospice, 600 Somerset Ave. Windber, PA 15963.
