Harper, Alton K., 88, of Johnstown, passed away December 14, 2020. Born January 21, 1932 to the late James K. and Olive A. (Rhoades) Harper in East Freedom, PA. He is preceded in death by parents; loving wife of 62 years, Doris J. (Hunter) Harper; brother Paul (Donna); sister-in- laws and brother-in-laws, Mary Ellen, Dorothy (Bill), David (Leona), Robert, and Daniel. Alton is survived by his children, Cyndee Schaefer and husband Terry, of York, PA; Brenda McLaughlin and husband Greg, of Richland; Kimberlee Gahagen and husband Sean, of Windber; Rhett Harper, of Pittsburgh; grandchildren, Meghan and husband Andy, Morghan, Rhiannon and husband James, Hannah, Brad and wife Kerry, Corrine and husband Matthew, Aubrey, Lauren, Nicolette, and Sierra; and great grandchildren Kellan, Cavan, Norah, Luke, and Hazel; sister-in-laws and brother-in-laws, Thomas (Thea), James (Alma), Florence “Toots” (Norbert), Nancy (Robert), and Wanda. Alton served in the 628th battalion during the Korean conflict. He worked as the Chief of Information Services for Bethlehem Steel. He was devoted to his family, had a great sense of humor, and was a car and auction enthusiast. A private memorial service will be held by the family.
