Freiwald, Daniel R., 58, Johnstown, died Apr. 12, 2016 at Memorial Medical Center. Born Mar. 14, 1958 to Robert and Alberta (Platz) Freiwald. Preceded in death by father and niece/godchild, Teddie Freiwald. Survived by mother; wife, Louann (Kohan); sons, Timothy and Michael; siblings, Mary Helen Percinsky married to Andrew; Paul married to Rita (Pribish); John married to Tina (Serenko); Catherine Partsch married to Brian; many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews; and beloved dogs, Sadie and Bandit. Daniel was Chief of Police for Conemaugh Township, Cambria County. He took pride in his job and loved serving his township. Daniel was a member of St. Gregory and Barnabas Church where he also served as an usher. He was an AMC car enthusiast and enjoyed playing cards with his poker friends. Daniel was a member of F.O.P. and Cover Hill Fire Co. He was also one of the founders of Cover Hill camp. Daniel was a loving, caring, and compassionate family man who would have done anything for his family or friends. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Friends will be received Fri.
