Obituary

Donna LaVerne (Arkwright) Brown, of Johnstown entered the presence of her Lord and Savior on Saturday, January 15, 2022.   Donna was born on March 16, 1937, to the late William D. and Laura (Blue) Arkwright.  She was married to Charles K. Brown for fifty-three years until his death in 2009.  She is survived by her children: Susan Good (Gary) of Mineral Point; Ilene Eshelman (Kirk) of Sebring, Florida; Mark (Pamela) of Kernersville, North Carolina; Darin (Diane) of Johnstown; and Matthew (Pamela) of Summerfield, North Carolina; and ten grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.  She is also survived by her siblings: Andrea Hrbal, William (Debbie) Arkwright, and Jeffrey Arkwright.  She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and sister, Arlene McCabe. She was a member of Pike Grace Brethren Church, where she served many years in Children’s Ministry, especially VBS, and sang in the choir.  Donna loved to sing, hum, and listen to hymns.  Special thanks from the family to her loving caregivers, Sharon and Karen.  The family will receive visitors on Wednesday, January 19, from 5-8 p.m. at Hindman Funeral Home, Johnstown, and on Thursday, January 20, at 10 a.m., prior to a Celebration of Life service at Pike Grace Brethren Church, Mundy’s Corner, at 11:00 Pastor Rudy Sheptock officiating.  A special thanks to the staff of Westmont Woods for the special care and support.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Laurel Highlands Alzheimer’s Foundation 317 Power St. Johnstown, PA 15906. Arrangements in care of Hindman Funeral Homes & Crematory, Inc., “Exclusive Provider of Veterans and Family Memorial Care.” Condolences may be made at HindmanFuneralHomes.com
