Anna, Dorothy L. – 71, Altoona, went to be with Lord on Sunday August 27, 2017, at her home, surrounded by her family. Born August 3, 1946, in Spangler, PA; she was a daughter of the late Harvey and Mary Bearer. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sisters, Mary Jane Bearer and Mildred Pavia. Dorothy is survived by her husband, Dennis F. Anna, her son Jude M. Anna and his wife Traci, Altoona; daughter Susan M. and her husband Dr. John Geary, Somerset; daughter Jennifer R. Richardson and her husband Chas, Mount Lebanon; son Matthew D. Anna and his wife Maggie, Munhall; nine grandchildren, her siblings, Clare, Ron, David, Charles, Kenneth, James, Rose, Fred, Margaret, and Donna; as well as numerous brothers-in law, sisters-in-law, nieces, and nephews. Dorothy graduated from Clarion University where she earned, a Masters degree in Education.  Dorothy retired from Cambria Heights School District where she served for over 30 years as an English Teacher and Librarian.  Dorothy was a devout catholic and a true servant leader. Dorothy enjoyed a simple life of caring for her family and grandchildren.  She also enjoyed the outdoors, cooking, card games, and crossword.  Dorothy was strong in her faith in God, and was a member of Sacred Heart Parish in Altoona. The family wishes to extend a special thanks for all the loving care provided to Dorothy by her hospice nurse, Tammy Bradford, as well as her personal care nurse Carol Cook Mikitko. Friends and family will be received on Thursday August 31, 2017 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Easly-Hindman Funeral Home, 333 Beaver St., Hastings, PA 16646. And again at St. Bernard Catholic Church on Friday September 1, 2017 from 10 a.m. until time of Funeral Mass at 11 a.m. Father Thaddeus Rettger O.S.B. Officiating. Interment will be at St. Boniface Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
