Fishel, Eugene M. “Gene”, 62, Hastings, passed away Sunday May 15, 2016, at Miners Medical Center. Born February 25, 1954, in Spangler; He was a son of the late Carl and Sandra (Gionfriddo) Fishel. He was preceded in death by his parents,  and his wife Denise (Szedenits) Fishel. He is survived by his daughter Tiffany (Larry) Hovanis, Johnstown; his stepsons Steven Kuzma, Northern Cambria; and Darren Kuzma, Hastings; his grandchildren Brandon, Ariauna, Alexis, Zieva, and Mila, his brother John Fishel of Dillsburg, and long time companion Joyce Lauver of Hastings. Gene was a loving husband, father and grandfather. Gene worked in the maintenance department at St. Francis University for 38 years. He enjoyed gardening, grilling & cooking, he was a Steelers and Pirates fan, and was a diehard Nascar fan. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, and was a member of the American Legion Post #748 in Loretto, and the VFW Post #7503 in Spangler. Friends and family will be received Thursday, May 19, 2016 from 2 p.m. to 4p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Easly-Hindman Funeral Home, 333 Beaver St., Hastings. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in Gene’s name to a charity of your choice.
