Janet Elias, 87, of Johnstown, passed away November 23, 2023. Born April 20, 1936, to the late Beatrice (Dill) and Albon Selders. Preceded in death by husband, Arthur; daughter, Lynne Elias; brothers, Robert and David, and two who died in infancy, Larry and Dennis. Survived by daughter, Shereen (Elias) Sayre married to William; son, Clint Elias married to Tammie; and grandchildren, Jessica Sayre Smith married to Zachary; Laura, Olivia, and Eric Sayre; and Hunter Elias. Janet worked as a clerk at Penn Traffic downtown, then at Ward Trucking as an operations clerk where she met her husband, Arthur. Janet sang in the choir at Evangelical United Brethren Church, helped with Vacation Bible School at the Johnstown Bible Church, was a deaconess at Emmanuel Baptist Church, and served in the prayer ministry at West Hills Community Church. She served in her community by working with the Board of Elections. Janet loved to spend time with her friends in Bible Study, at seniors’ events, and at lunch whenever the opportunity arose. She also loved to receive calls, especially from her grandchildren, catching up on their latest accomplishments and friendships. At the request of the family there will be no viewing. A memorial service followed by light refreshments will be held at 9:15 a.m. on Saturday January 6, 2024, at West Hills Community Church, 175 Woodmont Rd., Johnstown, PA 15905.
