Bowers, Margaret Jeanne, “Peg” (Ament) died on Wednesday September 20, 2017. Born on August 19, 1931 in Johnstown, last surviving member of the Union of the late William P. Ament and Mary Edna McBride Ament Baker. Proceeded in death by parents; son, Chalmer Bowers; infant sister, Phyllis; brothers, Donald and William; grandsons, Christopher Bowers and Devan Stephenson; and son-in-law Richard Bailey. Survived by children, Jerry (Darlene) Bowers, Johnstown, PA; Daniel (Heather) Bowers Winnipeg, Canada; Patricia Bowers, Johnstown, PA; Randy Bowers, Chambersburg, PA; Kenneth (Karen) Bowers, Trochta, El- Campo, TX; Jay Bowers, Killeen, TX; James (Janet) Bowers, Shamokin, PA; Jolene Bowers-Bailey, Johnstown, PA; Allen (Wendy) Bowers, Johnstown, PA; Elizabeth (James) Orris, WV; Donna (Leonard) Bowers, Johnstown, PA; Carol Bowers, Johnstown, PA; step-sister Doris Jean Korber, Johnstown, PA; 38 grandchildren; 56 great grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; and many extended family members and friends. Peg attended Johnstown Catholic High School and was a volunteer for the Franklin County Mennonite Share Food Program. She was a past member of Golden Age club, the Salvation Army Sunday School, and The Historian Capitol Theatre, all in Chambersburg, PA. Peg was also a 4H club leader in the 70s Prospect Johnstown, PA. She attended LPN school in Ohio before following in the military footsteps of her beloved brothers, Don and Bill. During the Korean War, Peg entered the US Army in the Women’s Army Corp., where she served at various medical facilities and received an honorable discharge. Supportive of the former Scotland School for Veterans Children in Franklin County. The family would like to thank DaVita Dialysis of Richland for all that they did for Margaret.  Friends and family will be received on Monday September 25, 2017 from 4-8 p.m. at Hindman Funeral Homes & Crematory, Inc., 146 Chandler Ave., where a funeral service will then be held on Tuesday September 26, 2017 at 11 a.m., officiated by Rev. Jeremy Barkley.
