Sand, Oliver L. “Butch”, 80, Johnstown, passed away September 28, 2019 at his home. Born March 1, 1939 to the late Robert and Mary E. (Shaffer) Sand. Preceded in death by his parents; his son, Wayne Sand; his siblings, Paul Sand, and Mary Moore. Survived by his wife of 40 years, Viola (Wilson) Sand; his children, Robin Allhouse (Kenny), Texas; Jeffrey Sand (Donna), Johnstown; Anna Sand, Mundys Corner; his grandchildren, Nathan Rickett, Casey Nelson, and Caleb Sand; his sister, Betty Knepper, Zelienople; his step-sister, Evelyn Koegler, New York; and numerous nieces and nephews, members of extended family, and friends. Oliver was retired from Bethlehem Steel. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, and was a member of the South Fork Rifle club, and he enjoyed riding down to the “Hoover” on his quad with his dog Jax. Family and friends will be received on Wednesday October 2, 2019 from 11 AM to 1 PM at Hindman Funeral Homes & Crematory Inc., 1521 Frankstown Road Johnstown, PA 15902. A memorial service will be held at 1 PM immediately following the visitation, Pastor Douglas Price, officiating. Interment will be private for family.
