Boring Rita Obit Pic

Boring, Rita, born in Johnstown on April 1, 1933, went home to be with the Lord on September 14, 2020, in Chattanooga, TN. To say that Rita was a loving, caring, gracious, giving person is an understatement. She loved people and she loved life. Always on the go, with twice the energy of people half her age, she was an inspiration to all. Hopefully now, from heaven’s point of view, she can see just how many lives she touched. Rita lived in Johnstown until 2019 and managed the store at Blaine Boring’s Chocolate Shoppe for 53 years before retiring in 2009. She loved her family, often traveling with her husband, Bud, to visit their children and grandchildren in various parts of the country. She also loved the Lord. She was a long-time member of Garfield Street United Methodist Church and actively lived out her faith. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her, but we know that her spirit is no longer being held back by a failing body. Rita was preceded in death by her parents, John and Mary Ondrejack, and her twin sister Rose. She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Blaine “Bud”, daughters Kathy (Scott) Ito and Karen (Tim) Zeli, son Greg (Vicki) Boring, grandchildren Chris and Kate Ito, Nate and Nick Zeli, Luke, Lacey, and Allyssa Boring, sisters Catherine (Deyane) and Judy (Kelly), and numerous nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Garfield Street UMC, 180 Garfield Street, Johnstown, PA 15906. A celebration of life will be held in Johnstown at some point in the future when we can safely gather together. Arrangements in care of Hindman Funeral Homes & Crematory, Inc., “Exclusive Provider of Veterans and Family Memorial Care.” Condolences may be made at HindmanFuneralHomes.com
